Cvs....

So maybe it's just me but I seem to have a bad experience EVERY TIME I have to go to CVS. Today they gave Parker another antibiotic for this ongoing ear infection he's had since Christmas! I had them send it to the one in fuquay since I was in town for the day running some errands I wanted to go ahead and get it started so we could get two doses in today. We leave doctors office at 11 and I get to cvs at 1:40 for them to tell me they typed the prescription in wrong and would just now have to fill it, could I pull to the side and wait 20-30 mins for them to fill it my friend had to get back to her car to go to work and I had to get back home to feed Parker because he was sleeping and i knew as soon as he woke up he'd be hungry. So i asked if they could transfer my prescription to the cvs on 210 in benson by my house so that way they'd have time to fill it by the time I drove the 20-30 mins back toward the house. I call cvs benson on my way home to make sure they were in the process of filling it and of course they said they hadn't received a transfer so I had to call back to cvs fuquay and was told they had faxed it twice to the one in benson. Frustrated I decided just to drive up to the one in benson on my way home and when I got there they said they received the transfer but were busy and needed an hour to fill it so I ended up going back home and having to go back out to FINALLY get his antibiotic not until 4 pm! Exhausting I can't wait for a Walgreens at mcgees crossroads I will def be their first customer!! It's not just a one time thing it's something every time w them...

25 Weeks

25 weeks today, and Parker's first taste of snow!  A lot more sleet then snow I think but we got to spend a few minutes in the snow this morning.

It's been a pretty good week the change to Prilosec for his acid reflux has significantly helped!  But we have still been a little off on our sleeping schedule it's taken us all week to get him back up to his 8:30 bedtime while his stomach was killing him he was not going down until 11 p.m!  But now that he's going to bed at 8:30 again he's waking up a lot more we are waking up 2-3 times a night again I feel like we are def. regressing with the sleep schedule.  Not fun!  So I am currently taking note of his naps during the day and sleep schedule at night to try to get him back to our previous sleep schedule of no waking up during the night and still going to bed at 8:30!  Wish me luck!  We definitely got into some bad habits while being sick and uncomfortable.

On a good note he's getting more active everyday!  He doesn't like being on his stomach still so might be a little while on the whole crawling situation but he started to stand by himself (holding onto the couch) this week.  His legs are really strong.  He's also catching up (size and weight) with his 1 1/2 year old cousin ken!  He enjoyed hanging out with her yesterday.  His new favorite noise to make is a squeal he has a happy squeal a mad squeal it's hilarious that's how he woke up this morning squealing.  Here are some iphone photos from our week.

He's learned how to maneuver his way off of his seat when he wants lol...

We enjoyed going out in his first snow this morning (1-25-13)

Parker, Aunt Brooke, and cousin Ken

His best buddy Kale (they are 6 days apart)  they love to interact with each other Parker just started grabbing Kale this week!

He's still sitting up like such a big boy!  He's been cheering the Cane's on this week

It doesn't get much better than this!!

Chicken Taco Soup on the crock pot

I figured since it was freezing rain and snowing outside and my husband loves soup on a cold day that I'd make soup with the chicken I had laid out for supper tonight.  I found a recipe I had almost all of the ingredients to, so Chicken Taco Soup it is going to be!

I'm all about simple recipes on the crock pot, since I have to put supper together during nap time, which isn't long periods of time around here!

Here is the recipe I found online on allrecipes.com if your looking a soup to make yourself:

Ingredients:

1 onion (chopped)
1 can of chili beans
1 can of black beans
15 oz. of whole kernel corn, drained
1 (8 oz.) can of tomato sauce
1 (12 oz.) bottle or can of beer ( I used a bottle of bud light)
2 (10 oz.) cans of diced tomatoes with green chilies, undrained
1 pkg of taco seasoning
3 whole boneless, skinless chicken breasts
shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
sour cream (optional)
crushed tortilla chips (optional)

Directions

  1. Place the onion, chili beans, black beans, corn, tomato sauce, beer, and diced tomatoes in a slow cooker. Add taco seasoning, and stir to blend. Lay chicken breasts on top of the mixture, pressing down slightly until just covered by the other ingredients. Set slow cooker for low heat, cover, and cook for 5 hours.
  2. Remove chicken breasts from the soup, and allow to cool long enough to be handled. Stir the shredded chicken back into the soup, and continue cooking for 2 hours. Serve topped with shredded Cheddar cheese, a dollop of sour cream, and crushed tortilla chips, if desired.

Cookie dough cheesecake!

So I'm no baker, I barely ever make a dessert but I decided to try! So I had previously found this awesome looking recipe for cookie dough cheesecake it didn't look to hard so I decided to try it out. Believe it or not it turned out really good! And it was super easy to make.

Here is the recipe if you want to try it out:

Chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake

Ingredients:

- 2 pkg. (8 oz. each) Philadelphia Cream Cheese, softened

- 1/2 cup sugar

- 1/2 tsp. vanilla

- 2 eggs

- 3/4 cup prepared or refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough, divided

- 1 Honey Maid Graham Pie Crust (6 oz.) <- (or make your own; so easy and so much better!)

Directions:

PREHEAT oven to 350 degrees F. Beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Add eggs; mix just until blended. Remove 1/2 cup of the dough; drop by teaspoonfuls into batter. Stir gently.

POUR into crust. Top with level teaspoonfuls of the remaining 1/4 cup cookie dough.

BAKE 40 minutes or until center is almost set. Cool. Refrigerate 3 hours or over night. Garnish as desired. Store leftover cheesecake in refrigerator.

Makes 12 servings.

Homemade Baby Food

It's about that time for Parker to start eating baby food!  The doctors told us to wait until 5 1/2 or 6 months with Parker because they are thinking he is going to have some food allergies and trouble with gas.  After the re-lactation process, I figured the more natural we can go with feeding Parker the better it's probably going to turn out for us.  So I've decided to make Parker's baby food!  It's actually been a fun, and rewarding process as it is also ALOT cheaper!  So far, with under $10 of vegetables and fruits I have made 60+ servings(ice cubes) of food, and I still have 2 apples and 4 sweet potatoes left to make baby food out of .  The cheapest I have been able to find baby food is 56 cents a jar and at that rate I've made 60 x .56 = 33.60 minus the $10 I spent on food I'm saving over 23 dollars on my first try!

It's also a pretty simple process!

So far we've made carrots, bananas, yellow squash, and pears.  Parker has had the bananas, pears and carrots and has liked them all and he seems to do better eating them then he did with the store bought food we bought before.

Here's all you have to do:

Wash the fruit/vegetable off good.  Peel the vegetable/fruit, if necessary core it as well.  Then chop or slice the item boil or steam it and put it in the food processor and add water until it gets to the right consistency.  With bananas you can just put them straight in the food processor they of course don't need to be boiled/steamed.  I didn't add enough water to the bananas the first time so put a little extra water in your bananas.  But they still worked out okay we put them in a fruit net for Parker to suck on like a popsicle and he love it and Adam ate a few himself and enjoyed them haha.

After you boil them pour them into an ice tray.  Make sure the tray is BPA free, I was going to just go to the dollar store and use a cheap plastic tray myself but I read up about it and there are chemicals that can freeze into the baby food so make sure you get one that says BPA free on it.  I am using the munchkin green trays from Walmart I WOULDN'T recommend these one of the two I have has already cracked and the cubes are difficult to get out after they freeze.  Then after they freeze take them out and store in ziploc bags.  I separate them and put a piece of masking tape with date I made them.

Leave them in the freezer and when you are ready take out one cube at a time and put it in a microwavable dish and microwave for 20-30 seconds and it will be ready to eat!  Just check the temperature first somethings take longer than others defrost.

24 weeks old

Sorry I missed 23 weeks so here is me catching up....
23 weeks we had Parker's tongue clipped he was tongue tied, it wasn't any fun for mommy or Parker but we survived and he could stick his tongue out as soon as they finished the procedure! So week 23 he enjoyed exploring his tongue!

24 weeks old today! He has learned how to actually jump in his jumper/bouncer play toy and he has been going to town! He also took on one of his daddies traits that my sisters aren't too fond of haha he started smacking his lips! He has been very very gassy acting again the past two weeks and just very uncomfortable with his stomach so we had to go back to the doctors he had another ear infection and they gave him a different medicine for reflux because his is pretty bad! Pray it helps for everyone's sanity it's been tough at nap time and bedtime. But we are so in love with our little ham! He smiles all the time it can't get much better than that!
